Newbury Firefighters and EMTs participated in vehicle extrication training on Monday, July 30. The members worked in teams to gain access to patients trapped in vehicles using the Department’s rescue extrication equipment. The patients were then removed from the vehicles and assessed by EMTs, who then developed a transport and treatment plan. This training is done at least twice during the year and is vital to us due to Route 95, Route 1 and Route 1A being in our response area. Many thanks to Byfield Auto on Orchard Street for providing us with the vehicles and the area to conduct our training.
