GEORGETOWN — Georgetown Chief Fred A. Mitchell Jr., Groveland Interim Fire Chief Richard York and Newbury Fire Chief Douglas Janvrin are pleased to announce that a regional Assistance to Firefighters Grant will allow all three departments to purchase new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), SCBA masks, air tank cylinders and Pak-Trackers.
Newbury Firefighters and EMTs participated in vehicle extrication training on Monday, July 30. The members worked in teams to gain access to patients trapped in vehicles using the Department’s rescue extrication equipment. The patients were then removed from the vehicles and assessed by EMTs, who then developed a transport and treatment plan. This training is done at least twice during the year and is vital to us due to Route 95, Route 1 and Route 1A being in our response area. Many thanks to Byfield Auto on Orchard Street for providing us with the vehicles and the area to conduct our training.
NEWBURY — Chief Douglas Janvrin reports that the Newbury Fire Department extinguished a residential grill fire that extended into the home and resulted in one firefighter injury.
