Newbury Fire Department is Hiring a Full-Time Firefighter/EMT

The Newbury Fire Department is seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join its team as a full-time Firefighter/EMT.

 

The position is a full-time, union position with a 42-hour weekly schedule based on a 4-days-on, 4-days-off shift rotation. Salary is determined by the current collective bargaining agreements based on qualifications and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Firefighters in Newbury respond to fire and non-fire-related calls and perform a variety of emergency response, rescue and firefighting duties. 

 

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, ProBoard Firefighter I/II Certificate, or Massachusetts Fire Academy C/V or Career Recruit Certificate of

 

Completion or equivalent firefighter training, Massachusetts/National EMT-B (Paramedic preferred), active driver’s license, able to pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation, must pass or have a current NFPA 1582 physical, must sign and pass a CORI screening, be drug/marijuana and tobacco products free, basic computer literacy with Windows & Apple.

The Newbury Fire Department was created by vote of the citizens of the Town of Newbury in 2010. It combines Protection Fire Company No. 1, established on Central Street in Byfield in 1922 and Protection Fire Company No. 2, founded in 1942. The Newbury Fire Department provides fire protection, rescue, and emergency medical services for more than 6,500 residents, covering 26.3 square miles.
